New For IOR

IOR Rifle Scopes

Over the past few years, IOR Valdada has continually pushed the optical-design envelope. Efforts included the first 6- and 7-fold magnification-increase scopes and fat40mm tubes. After what IOR accomplished in the last 2 years, it seemed unlikely that the Romanian optical engineers had anything left to shoe us. The 2009 SHOT Show proved the doubters wrong though, and Valdada (IOR's US importer) unveiled a very interesting 1x/4x32 tactical scope.

Yes, it's a 1x or 4x, similar in concept to the ELCAN SpecterDR - not a conventional variable which zooms from 1x to 4x with 2x and 3x available. Unlike the ELCAN SpecterDR though, IOR's newest design like a conventional scope. ior scope
Built on a large 35mm main tube, the new optic's are fairly short .

One feature of the scope is the ability to switch quickly from 1x to 4x. When snapped onto 1x, it gives the shooter a field of view so wide, it's easy to forget you're looking through a scope. This allows it to be utilized like a red-dot sight. Thanks to its large FOV, it should prove to be very fast acquisition on close or moving targets.

Most variable scopes, even when powered down to 1-1.25x, are still slower than unmagnified red-dot sights, due partly to their smaller fields of view. But IOR new 1x/4x32mm is quick on close-range targets.By rotating a conventional-looking magnification ring, a shooter can switch to 4x. This allows a shooter to engage close-range targets, then immediately identify and engage targets at greater distances.

The BDC reticle's illuminated, and a seven-position rheostat control power. Using a 100-yard zero, the reticle gives the shooter approximate holdovers out to 800 yards with 62-grain M855 5.56x45mm ammo. Windage and elevation adjustments are made via large target turrets. Adjustments are both tactile and audible with .1 Mil clicks and eight Mils per revolution.

Illumination's powered by a common CR2032 battery. This new optic: IOR didn't yet have the full specifications but the piece will be available very soon, and is sure to create quit a buzz.
