When it comes to red dot rifle scopes they are often dismissed by many gun owners, as they do not offer magnification and to many this is unacceptable. They make acquisition of target quick and easy, this is especially good for someone learning to use a hand gun after that they may never go back to using the site on the front of the barrel.
They also provide you with a large eye relief you probably want this especially for a slug shotgun as the recoil on this gun is extreme.
In my opinion if you are taking shots inside the hundred yard range the scopes should be definitely on your list of things to look at .They do require batteries but the batteries have been known to last up to two years just remember to shut it off.

They are excellent for law enforcement in close quarters if you are a nonbeliever in red dot scopes you should try to find a way tests one of the scopes. Every time I had someone try one for the first time they have always been surprised how it improves their target acquisition.
One thing to consider though when buying a red dot scope is not to go too much on the cheap side you want something that can handle the recoil of a 44 Magnum or a slug shotgun, mounts should be solid, proper mount for the proper job.
