Scopes that use Mildot reticles are fairly easy to understand once you get familiar with them. Let's understand reticle first. Mildot reticles are primarily made for the military and long rage shooters or snipers but, their purpose can be served for just average person that likes to target shoot. When using one of these scopes, one must be able to estimate the target's size and from what distance they are from the shooter. You have to be able to read heights an distances in milliradians, which is kind of complicated.
Once you get the feel for it and know what you are doing then everything will just come to you in a snap. There is in truth mil-dot mathematics and you have to become familiar with this type of math in order to use this kind of scope It is a math that deals with two basic formulas, the height of a target, and the distance to the target. All the number of milliradians will be read from the reticle of the scope.
